Our Story
DataWizard Online was born in 2021 from a simple frustration: the best data science education was locked behind university gates and prohibitive costs. Dr. Alexander Voss, then leading the data science team at Google Brain, saw brilliant minds held back not by ability but by access. He envisioned a platform where anyone with curiosity and determination could learn the same tools and techniques used by the world's top data teams.
What started as a side project with three courses and a shared Jupyter server quickly gained momentum. Within six months, Mei-Lin Zhao left Netflix to build the cloud infrastructure that would become our signature lab environment. Dr. Kwame Asante joined from Columbia University to pioneer our lab-first pedagogy, and Natasha Volkov brought her expertise from JPMorgan Chase to curate real-world datasets and capstone projects. The founding team was complete.
Today, DataWizard serves over 15,000 students and professionals across 40 countries. Our platform is trusted by Fortune 500 companies for enterprise training, our certifications are recognized by 500+ hiring partners, and our community forum hosts thousands of daily conversations about data, code, and careers. CEO & Founder
Former head of data science at Google Brain, Alexander founded DataWizard with the mission of making advanced data skills accessible to everyone. He holds a PhD in Machine Learning from Stanford and has published over 40 papers on scalable learning algorithms.
Mei-Lin Zhao
Chief Technology Officer
Mei-Lin spent a decade building distributed systems at Netflix and Airbnb before joining DataWizard as CTO. She architected the cloud-based lab infrastructure that allows thousands of students to run data experiments simultaneously.
Dr. Kwame Asante
Head of Education
With 15 years of experience teaching data science at Columbia University and MIT, Kwame leads curriculum design at DataWizard. He pioneered the lab-first pedagogy that defines our platform.
